Remarks by Ambassador Osius at Int’l Jazz Day Celebration with Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation

The Hilton Hotel Ballroom Thursday, April 27, 6:00 pm Ambassador Osius giving remarks at International Jazz Day Celebration with Blue Dragon Foundation Ambassador Osius giving remarks at International Jazz Day Celebration with Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation. In Vietnamese: [I am pleased to be here tonight to celebrate International Jazz Day with my friends at Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation.] The U.S. Embassy is honored to be Blue Dragon’s partner and supporter as you create lasting, positive change for children throughout Vietnam. Jazz is truly an American art form — driven by an unmistakably American spirit of improvisation, freedom, and creativity. And in so many ways, jazz is the story of my nation. Born out of the struggle of African Americans yearning for freedom, jazz demonstrates how creativity blossoms through the power of diversity. Jazz is the sound of innovation – of musicians taking an old melody and spontaneously making it new together. And that’s what’s attracted a global following – including in Vietnam – to this special music. In Vietnamese: [Blue Dragon, thank you for the important work you do. Now let’s enjoy some jazz!]
