“TET” 2018 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
The Nonimmigrant Visa Unit of the U.S. Embassy Hanoi Consular Section will not be open to the public from Wednesday, February 14, 2018 through Tuesday, February 20, 2018 for the Lunar New Year (Tet) holidays.
The Consular Section will reopen to public on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.
To ensure sufficient time to process and return passports back to visa applicants before the Tet holidays, please note the schedule below for submitting applications and scheduling interviews:
The last day EMS will receive applications for visa renewal by mail: Thursday, February 8, 2018
The last day to appear for visa interview at the Consular Section: Thursday, February 8, 2018
NOTICE: If you are not traveling to the U.S. urgently, we strongly suggest that you wait until after the Tet holidays to submit your visa application.
Any application that cannot be completely processed will be returned to the applicant by EMS before the Embassy closes for Tet, and the applicant will need to resubmit the application. We are not able to hold passports over the holidays. Please note that you will have to resubmit your application after the Tet holiday via EMS.
U.S. Mission Vietnam’s Consular offices will be closed for the “Tet” holidays:
Wednesday, February 14, 2018 through Tuesday, February 20, 2018
The Consular offices will re-open on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.
To ensure sufficient time to process services for U.S. citizens, especially processing and returning passports before Tet, we ask that you please follow the schedule below for submitting applications and picking up your new passports:
If you need to have your new passport before the Tet holidays: you should apply before February 05, 2018. If you apply for a passport on or after February 05, 2018, please expect that your new passport will not be available until after the Tet holidays.
The Consular offices will continue accepting passport applications and will be open for passport pick up through February 12, 2018.
For Tet holidays, most Government of Vietnam offices, including city and provincial offices, will also be closed. Please note that we will be unable to provide non-emergency U.S. Citizen and visa services during this time.
